Bot Creator and Bot Designer For Discord (BDFD), side by side
Both let you build a Discord bot from your phone with $function scripts. This page sets what each one publishes about itself next to what Bot Creator does. Everything about BDFD comes from its own pages, read on 2026-10-12 and linked below. Nothing here is a review, and prices and limits change, so check the sources.
| BDFD | Bot Creator | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you build | On your phone or in a browser; Google Play and App Store apps are linked [1] | In the Android and iOS apps (see the download page) or the Docker runner for hosting |
| Scripting | BDScript, documented in its wiki [1] | BDFD-style $functions run by a native interpreter, visual blocks, or JavaScript; you choose per command
|
| Visual builder | The wiki lists an embed builder in the app under premium perks [2] | Visual blocks for whole commands and event workflows |
| Hosting | Hosting is included; the site says it handles hosting [1] | Hosted by us from the app, or self-hosted with the Docker runner |
| Free limits | 230 commands and 100 variables without premium [2] | The free apps show ads; hosting time for a bot started on our servers is earned by watching rewarded ads. See the pricing page |
| Paid | Premium points bought in the app; 1 point is 7 days of premium hosting; the wiki lists no price [2] | Subscriptions bought in the app stores (store prices on the pricing page) |
Prices
BDFD publishes no price for its premium points on the pages above.
Bot Creator Premium, store prices read on 2026-10-12: Google Play 5.99 €/month / 59.99 €/year, App Store 5.99 €/month / 59.99 €/year. Bot Creator pricing
Where Bot Creator is limited
- The free version of the apps shows ads, and hosting time on our servers is earned by watching rewarded ads in the mobile app.
- You build in an app, not in a browser dashboard. The browser playground only previews the message a command would send; it does not run a bot.
- Bot Creator is not BDFD. Its reference lists the
$functionsthe engine supports, one page each; a function with no page there should not be assumed to work, and some pages are marked incomplete.
If you come from BDFD
Bot Creator runs BDFD-style scripts with its own native interpreter. Check each $function you use in the function reference and read Execution model and compatibility first: for example, a slash command’s text is sent as the reply, so an extra $sendMessage posts a second message.
